To determine your place on the scale, we encourage people to honestly assess their resources and consider the difference between a sacrifice and a hardship. If attending the course would be difficult, but not detrimental, that qualifies as a sacrifice. You may have to cut back on spending in other areas to prioritize your participation in the course. If attending the course would be detrimental to your financial health and affect your ability to meet basic needs, that is considered a hardship.

Class Schedules

Students in this program have the option to earn 15 credits. As a continued commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Yestermorrow offers a 5 tier sliding scale for tuition. The sliding scale is a tool that allows students to personally assess their ability to contribute and select the price point of tuition that will allow them to access our programs.

Architect/Designer Becomes New Executive Director of Yestermorrow

These opportunities are noted on our list of current courses. This program begins in the design studio for several weeks where students gain experience in group design and facilitation as well as project management. Students should be prepared to have their creative boundaries pushed as they learn essential drawing and drafting skills that will allow them to effectively communicate their design thinking. Following this design intensive, students translate theory into practice as they begin construction on an architecturally innovative shelter of their own design.

Rogers will spearhead the implementation of Yestermorrow's master plan, which includes campus-wide infrastructure improvements such as building new student housing. He'll also oversee much of Yestermorrow's 40th anniversary programming and initiatives. These include replacing all of the school's signage in collaboration with Wood & Wood Sign Systems, a company owned by Potter Kasic's father, Sparky Potter. The students who come to Yestermorrow are place-makers or change-makers, and sometimes they’re both.

Waitsfield's Yestermorrow Design/Build School is entering its 40th year with new but familiar leadership. Last week, the nonprofit announced the hiring of executive director Britton Rogers. The architect and landscape designer has a 10-year relationship with the school, first as a student and then, since last year, as an instructor and full-time staff member. For the UMass classes, it’s listed for $6,800 for a semester, and Yestermorrow adds another $9,000, so it ends up being over $15,000 for tuition plus room and board.

Rogers replaces Potter Kasic, a Waitsfield-born visual artist who joined Yestermorrow in December 2018 and recently returned with her family to Virgina, where they lived before she took the Yestermorrow job. She will stay on with the school in her new position as enrichment director. There’s a little kitchenette, a communal living space, and bathrooms so the campers have access to running water, which has been an issue in the past. The cheapest option when people come to stay with us is camping. Design pixel-perfect content like flyers, magazines and more with Adobe InDesign. It is furniture, not walls; we could take them apart if we wanted to. Potter, a glass artist who started last January as the school’s fourth executive director in four years, plans to strengthen Yestermorrow by raising its profile and creating more partnerships with other institutions. To that end, this year Yestermorrow served as a partner for the fourth annual Tiny House Festival, which drew 2,000 people from the U.S. and Canada for seminars and tours in October. The Berkshire Woodworkers Guild will be offering $2,500 scholarships to students planning to pursue a career in woodworking.

They are DIYers and professionals, women and men, undergraduates and lifelong learners, hobbyists, and those seeking a career or life change. Courses are taught by top architects, builders, craftspeople, and permaculture practitioners from around the country. Recipients of an Americorps Education Award can apply those funds toward Yestermorrow course tuition, materials fee, lodging, and meal plan. Recipients must process their award through a Title IV institution.

She works alongside screenwriters and showrunners to help create the sets for television shows. It’s all about storytelling through the background, and her strong eye for detail knows precisely how to create that needed ambiance (and easter eggs) in shows. You’ll find that Frances has worked as a lead designer on the famous show Gossip Girl and other shows such as SMILF.

While she has left the stage, she now leaves that work on her husband and has followed her passion for interiors while creating the very endearing Amy Sklar Design. Working with various celebrities such as Patton Oswalt and Annie Weisman, she keeps blowing her clients away (while still cracking a joke here and there). Her energy, keen eye, and the thrill she receives from teaming up with clients are one of the highlights of her career. A lot of lecture-based and woodworking classes happen in the winter, and in the spring we gear up for building. For the first time in over a decade, we have a real live building on our campus – the dorm – so all the students who work on it will have created a piece of architecture. Yestermorrow has always been a scrappy place, producing unorthodox structures such as bus stops, treehouses, playgrounds and other one-of-a-kind items that now dot the Mad River Valley.

Transform any piece of content into a page-turning experience. "The sequence was well thought out, and the amount of new material presented each day was perfect.  The instructor's patience and dedication to us was fantastic." Residents of the Mad River Valley (Waitsfield, Warren, Moretown and Fayston) are eligible for our Standby for Locals Program.

Learn how to safely use a wide range of hand and power tools in a supportive environment while building a small structure such as a shed or playhouse. We'll go over house framing and layout while looking at the anatomy of a structure. Whether you're planning on building a house or just want some basic skills, this course will help you gain the confidence you need.

It’s about creating something that reflects your values and whatever that means for you. With the dorm, our CNC furniture class will be building out the pods. The carpentry course, trim class, concrete countertops course – those classes will work on the dorm. When nobody is staying here, we’ll offer the dorm off-season to someone like Sugarbush, because they need a place for their snowmaking crews.
